Despite taking it’s sweet time to arrive, Spring is well and truly underway here at High Peak and we have a few things to share with you.

Our High Peak breeding program seems to be working pretty effectively. On a personal note, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Kate and I welcomed Polly into the world on the 23rd of November. A little sister to Paddy, cousin to Jonty and Henry and a first grandaughter for James and Anna. Needless to say, we’re all over the moon.

On the hunting scene, we’ve seen some excellent grass growth over the estate. This means strong antler development on the stags, and I can assure you that the binoculars are telling a good story. The 2014 season is shaping up to be one out of the box!

New Zealand’s Game Animal Council is here!

The big news on the New Zealand hunting scene is the recent passing of the Game Animal Council Bill. This is a landmark day for all hunters, both recreational and professional, as it means that those who really value the big game hunting resource will finally have a say in the management of that resource.

The upshot of this for visiting hunters is overwhelmingly positive, as it means regluations and standards that will ensure better hunting practice, greater professionalism and better outcomes forhunters. Read more…
